About Us

Nishant Patel, MD

After growing up in Odessa, Texas, I spent a couple of years in Houston at Rice University prior to graduating from The University of Texas at Austin. I then attended Texas A&M College of Medicine, which started in College Station and finished in Temple at Scott & White Hospital, then a top 15 teaching hospital nationally. Clinical rotations allowed me to spend time in San Antonio and Waco too. Residency training was back in Houston at The Menninger Department of Psychiatry at Baylor College of Medicine. The Menninger Clinic is consistently ranked among the top psychiatric hospitals in the country. From West Texas to east Texas, I was fortunate to have some amazing teachers and mentors along the way.

My wife (Dr. Mahta Ostadian), kids, and I then spent nine years in the wondrous Pacific Northwest, where she and I worked in private practice in Bellevue, Washington (on the Eastside of Seattle). We returned to the great state of Texas in 2019 to rejoin our extended families. We are excited to serve patients in the Dallas-Fort Worth community at Republic Psychiatry Southlake!

As a board certified psychiatrist, I have trained and specialized in the assessment and management of mental health conditions. I enjoy collaborating with patients in addressing their situation on their unique life journey. In light of the misfortune and suffering that many experience, I believe it's a sacred privilege to have the opportunity to engage, connect, delve deeper, and heal. One of my priorities is to help people find more authentic freedom, whether by careful medication treatment to address biological barriers to free will or by facilitating psychotherapy to develop clarity, peace, or empowerment.

Mahta Ostadian, MD

After arriving in Texas, I completed my undergraduate education at The University of Texas at Austin, followed by medical school at Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine and psychiatry residency training at The Menninger Department of Psychiatry at Baylor College of Medicine. These training institutions have provided me with a strong foundation of knowledge and practice from which I continually work to build upon.

Most of my adult life has taken place in Texas and it carries a very special place in my heart, although growing up in distinctive environments with varied cultures, mentalities and populations has aided me to engage with my patients in an accepting, nurturing and nonjudgmental manner. Many places have served as my home, including Europe, Canada, Florida, Austin, College Station, Temple, San Antonio, Houston, and Seattle and I am proud to finally have the opportunity to reside in and serve the DFW area!
